The HPCSA turned around on their sentencing of Dr David Stephen Grieve, quietly, in the shadows, behind closed doors…….nefariously, with cunning and guile slyly. Without any consultation with the affected parties, the complainant(s) or the only real recognised complainant (the HPCSA took so long that almost all the complainants had passed away and then the HPCSA disregarded their complaints) the HPCSA Board converted a sentence against Dr DS Grieve and turned it worthless. Dr DS Grieve stole and defrauded his patients out of tens of millions of rands and then the HPCSA allowed him to keep the money and get away scot-free by fining him R150,000 – a paltry sum for him to pay out of the money he stole. Effectively he just paid some of the stolen money to keep the rest and keep going as he had done before. Use R150,000 to keep R10 million. The question is “WHO BENEFITTED?” CUI BONO? – SOMEONE INSIDE THE HPCSA GOT “FIXED”………..THAT IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE NORMALISATION OF DEVIATION (CORRUPTION) INSIDE THE HPCSA IN SOUTH AFRICA……..
A leading legal counsel and QC from NZ that is directly involved with the equivalent of the HPCSA in New Zealand has commented as follows: –
“This is a shocking travesty of justice. It was already considered a poor judgement when the HPCSA failed to strike him off – to do this now is simply a clear indication of the “Normalisation of deviation” that is accepted practice within South Africa. I was shocked to read that it is common practice to intermingle personal and company funds and the description of how this is done – by a legal counsel. The Companies Act of any country is very prescriptive about this type of practice. It appears that the members of this board may have been reached and “convinced” ……..the clear cut question is simply – Cui Bono? (Latin for – Who benefits)”. (Or who has benefited).

The office of public prosecutions has confirmed that the criminal charges against Dr DS Grieve have not been withdrawn and have stated that case is still active and under consideration. The HPCSA have held several preliminary Disciplinary Enquiry hearings with the last on 12th October 2021 and the next scheduled for 4th November 2021. More follows……..
Justice for the victims has come at last, but for many of them, too little too late. The medical miscreant Dr David Stephen Grieve will face the HPCSA (Health Professionals Council of South Africa) medical watchdog and be forced to face the consequences of defrauding his patients, family and friends in what has been described as a dirty exercise in financial gymnastics.
In the final judgement which can be viewed here (http://www.saflii.org/za/cases/ZASCA/2021/6.html) the court of appeal held that –
[11] Contrary to the limited disciplinary powers which Dr Grieve contended for, in terms of the Act the Council bears extensive supervisory functions which include: protection of the public from conduct arising during the rendering of health services[3]; maintenance of professional and ethical standards within the profession[4]; ensuring that investigation of complaints concerning persons registered in terms of the Act are done and that appropriate disciplinary action is taken against such persons in accordance with the Act in order to protect the interests of the public[5]; and ensuring that persons registered in terms of the Act behave towards users of health services in a manner that respects their constitutional rights to human dignity, bodily and psychological integrity and equality, and that disciplinary action is taken against persons who fail to act accordingly.[6] In addition, the functions of the Professional Bodies include the maintenance and enhancement of the health profession and the integrity of persons practising such profession, guiding the relevant health professions, and protection of members of the public.[7]
[12] The Council is therefore not merely a medical malpractice watchdog; it is also the primary guardian of morals of the health profession.[8] As this court held in Preddy and Another v Health Professions Council of South Africa[9]:

We have been advised by the Director Of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Pretoria that a new Public Prosecutor has just been reassigned the case of Dr DS Grieve reference number LYTTELTON ref nr CAS 578/12/2010 – Fraud – Dr David Stephen Grieve. This means that despite previous limitations the prosecution has now moved forward and the victims are waiting for action to be taken. South Africa has an abysmal record of prosecuting fraud and white collar crimes and not withstanding this, the DPP have decided to progress. The victims of “Dr DS Grieve Bridging Solutions” who include his own patients, family and friends are looking forward to the prosecution gaining traction now and at last (the statute on limitations is 20 years – see this article)

In 2009, Dr DS Grieve of Centurion defrauded his patients, family and friends through a Ponzi scheme which he ran as Dr DS Grieve Bridging Solutions. One of the victims was old Mr Albert Van Der Linde about 77 years old at the time – we visited Mr Van Der Linde who provided the documents, business cards and proof that Dr DS Grieve had used his position as a medical practitioner and doctor to gain access to the renown and high quality Protea Retirement Village – Protea Aftree Oord in Centurion and callously apply the narcissistic tools of his dark personality and criminal mind into convincing the already peacefully retired pensioner Mr Albert Van Der Linde into parting with his money – and did this right inside the retirement village in the security of his on unit in the old age home. The medical doctor Dr DS Grieve and his then wife Sanet Grieve aka Botha (a former Welkom high school dropout, ex waitress at his restaurant and his on the menu adulteress, lover and self confessed junkie and drug addict used their patronage relationship to convince Mr Van Der Linde that his money was safe. This can only be deemed to have been one of the easy prey for them and low hanging fruit which they promptly snapped up – that was the last Mr Van Der Linde would ever see of his money or the dastardly pair of deceivers and fraudsters.
Old Mr Van Der Linde, gutted and in his twilight years was helpless and sought the help of the SAP and the Hawks DPCI – but was failed miserably as were all the other elderly victims, many now deceased, of Dr DS Grieve Bridging Solutions a financial deck of cards the sole purpose of which was to catch as many people as possible in as short a space of time as possible – and thats exactly what Dr DS Grieve and the junkie crackhead and adulteress did.
Failed by the NPA – failed by the Director of Public Prosecutions in Pretoria – Willem Posthumus – Prosecutor was the dismal failed prosecutor who simply refused to prosecute and sat on the prosecution file refusing even to give a Nolle Prosequi certificate for a private prosecution). we still ask what happened to the criminal prosecution of this fraudster that was investigated by the SAPS, who referred the case for prosecution, former Head of Prosecutions Glynis Breytenbach who even contacted victims and said “He must be prosecuted at once”, leading private investigators, fraud experts and even international bodies who all drew the same opinion – premeditated, criminal fraud, money laundering and theft by conversion……. as well as many other charges and allegations including the murder of his own mother Ellen Joey Grieve who died overmedicated in a windowless shack on a pig farm in Randfontein, her measly pension paid monthly hijacked by Grieve and his crackhead wife who had hijacked the elderly Mrs Ellen Grieve’s ATM card and kept her isolated and drugged, reduced to skin and bone and the result of which was a cold lonely old body discovered early one Winter’s morning………and Dr Grieve was medicating her…….
There can only be two reasons why Dr DS Grieve AND his drug addicted crackhead wife with her IVF (In vitro fertilised) children were not prosecuted by Advocate Willem Posthumus – INCOMPETENCE or CORRUPTION…….make of it what you will…….we stand by what we say and have the proof to back it up. But worse was still to come – the “friendly liquidator” who helped Dr DS grieve – a certain Dewald Breytenbach, a dirty liquidator and known and reported in the media for his participation in dirty nefarious liquidations did not even advise old Mr Albert Van Der Linde (who had no email or electronic communication, fax machine or even a mobile phone) of the measly portion he was due after the voluntary liquidation of all Grieve’s assets and businesses – and we have evidence that Breytenbach (click to see more on him) stopped communicating and kept the final payments due to creditors for himself…….a dirty dirty thing to do to old people……sies…..this was not the only victim and the stories abound – search this site.
